Sifted spotlight // Lori Barratt, City Manager of Nashville

October 05, 2017

Our team works nation-wide to make our clients’ lunch program the highlight of their week. We set goals and then double them. We’re reinventing corporate catering. We take an all-hands-on-deck mentality: our teams are constantly collaborating and learning from each other’s unique challenges, experiences, and strengths. In this series, we give you the dirty deets on the creative minds and extraordinary individuals behind the Sifted experience.

Lori Barratt // City Manager // Nashville

Your 25 word bio: Just call me a chameleon. I'm equal parts tomboy and girly girl. I'm also equal parts free-spirited artist (Dad) and analytical data nerd (Mom). Adaptability.

Life motto?

To wish you were someone else is to waste the person you are. (I have it tattooed on my forearm)

What is your favorite thing about Nashville?

There is so much beauty in Nashville! I love being outdoors in my city whether it's being on the water, on dry land or even muddy terrain. There are always new places to explore and beautiful things to be seen.

Go-to karaoke song?

Shoop by Salt n Pepa

What inspires you?

Someone that has passion. If it's genuine, their passion is contagious.

If you had to eat one Sifted menu for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My all-time fav office lunch is Gaucho Steak Tacos. WOW. I love it every time!

What kind of eater are you?

Medium flexitarian with a shot of paleo sometimes.

Describe Sifted’s company culture:

Sifted promotes an environment where all employees are fully immersed in the same vision as the co-founders. We fight, grind and repeat on a daily basis no matter our position within the company. Employee buy-in is due to the clarity of expectations given to us, being encouraged to own up to mistakes we make and being awarded with recognition when deserved.

If you were to give someone new to the startup world some advice, what would it be?

You have to have adaptability. Things in the startup world are constantly changing so you have to prepare for anything or be willing to go with the flow!

2 things your team has taught you this year?

  • Don't ever assume anything. Ask questions and follow up.Write it down. Life is so crazy it's easy to forget things when you're a full-time multi-tasking ninja.
  • Be calm in chaos. At the end of the day, we learn and grow from our mistakes. There's no need to freak out.
